Lighthouse University in Edo State has received official Approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence operations.
Located in the Evbuobanosa community along the Benin – Agbor Expressway, in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, Lighthouse University is the first university established in the Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde area. It has been granted full university status by the NUC after meeting all necessary requirements under the National Minimum Standards and Establishment of Institutions Act.
The Federal Government’s issuance of the operational license affirms, “Upon fulfilling all stipulated requirements, Lighthouse University, Evbuobanosa, Edo State, is hereby registered and authorized to operate as a private university in Nigeria.”
Lighthouse University offers three faculties, encompassing eight departments and a total of 15 programs. These include faculties such as Mass Communication, Political Science, and Management Sciences, along with departments like Sociology, Biological Sciences, Computer Sciences, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Computer Engineering.
Founded by Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude, President of Gospel Light International Ministries and former National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Lighthouse University aims to provide quality education emphasizing entrepreneurship and innovation.
Rev. Omobude expressed his joy, attributing the university’s establishment to divine providence and the support of longstanding allies. He envisions Lighthouse University as a hub for nurturing scholars and fostering world-changing innovations. He invites individuals, organizations, and governmental bodies to collaborate with the university, anticipating it will catalyze significant and lasting transformations.
